Test Cricket Career
Mohammad started playing cricket at a young age. As a child, he would play with his friends on the streets and backyard of their homes. He was good at both batting and bowling and practiced hard to hone his skills.
He made his first-class debut for Karachi Whites in 2009 before making his international debut in 2010 against Australia. Mohammad has also been part of the Pakistan squad for ICC World T20 2014 as well as ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
ODI Career
Mohammad is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He made his debut for the Pakistani side on 20 September 2013 against Sri Lanka, scoring 45 runs and taking three wickets. He was selected to play his first Test match on 30 October 2013 against Zimbabwe, scoring 12 and taking three wickets. Mohammad is one of only seven players to have scored more than 1,000 runs and taken more than 100 wickets in ODI cricket.

Rizwan is the first player to score a century and take a five-wicket haul on his ODI debut. He scored 120 against Sri Lanka on 5 March 2017. His best ODI bowling performance was 5/25 against Bangladesh on 13 November 2016.

Rizwan made his debut for the Pakistani cricket team on 1 October 2015, scoring a hundred and taking three wickets. He made his One Day International debut on 8 December 2015 against England and scored a century. He went on to score centuries against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies, and New Zealand. In the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, he was named vice-captain of the side. As vice-captain, he led Pakistan to victory against India in the final of the tournament.

In 2022, Mohammad Rizwan is the best cricketer in Pakistan with an impressive average of 70.47 and a strike rate of 103.5. In that year, he scored more than 3000 runs including 17 centuries and 43 half-centuries. He has also taken 87 wickets at an average of 23.64 and a strike rate of 55.1, including 15 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul. As of 2026, Mohammad Rizwan is still going strong and holds the record for being the best cricketer in Pakistan since 2020.
