His name

This is Babar Azam, the best cricketer in Pakistan. He plays for his national team and he has many achievements to his name. In 2016, Babar was named ODI Player of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC). He was also named as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Year for 2018. 

It's fair to say that he's done pretty well in cricket. But there's more to him than just cricket.


Cricket career

Azam was a right-handed batsman and slow right-arm orthodox bowler. He made his Test debut for the Pakistani cricket team in 2011 against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium, scoring a half-century and taking four wickets. 

In December 2018, he became the first player to score more than 10,000 runs and take more than 250 wickets in One Day Internationals (ODIs)


International career

Azam made his international debut against the West Indies on November 8, 2014. In January 2015, he was named captain of the U-19 Pakistani team for their tour of England. His first international century came when he scored 107* against Sri Lanka at Sharjah during a T20I on 16 December 2016. He followed this up with a maiden ODI century when he scored 113* against Sri Lanka at Pallekele on 17 December 2016.


Awards and Honours

He was the leading run-scorer for the national team during the 2015 ICC World Cup and 2016 ICC World of Champions Trophy, with an aggregate total of 762 runs across both tournaments. In November 2017, he became the fastest Pakistani to reach 1000 ODI runs after scoring a century against Sri Lanka. He also holds numerous records including most matches played by a Pakistani batsman, centuries scored by a Pakistani batsman, and highest individual score by a Pakistani batsman.
